It was a fantastic program where I had a chance to work on a variety of pieces, including Beethoven's Quartet, Op. 59 No. 2, in e minor, Brahms Piano Quartet in c minor, Op. 60, Bartok's 2nd Quartet, Op. 17. The faculty was incredible, and the community there is incredibly supportive. The people that I met out there were amazing to work with and have become close friends and fun people to work with. After the end of the festival, I ended up travelling to Portland, Oregon, to perform with Erica Wong, Sarah Wood, Jesse Lewis, and their friend Adam Whiting, of CIM fame, on the Summer Chamber Music Concert Series which he has been organizing. There I did a solo performance of the first two movements of Reger's Suite No. 1 for Viola, Op. 131d. We collectively performed the 1st Movement of the Bartok, along with Brahms' Piano Quintet Op. 34 in it's entirety. Never have I had a chance to rehearse or perform on such an intense level, and I anticipate the chance where I can do that again.
<img border="0" alt="Free Hit Counters" src="http://counter.rapidcounter.com/counter/1125471018/mgreen"; ALIGN="middle" HSPACE="4" VSPACE="2">
<font style="font-size:12"color="#666666">Free Hit Counters

This past weekend I ended up travelling out Chicago, Illinois, to perform in the Greek Women's University Club's 17th Annual Music Competition. I performed with four other fine musicians of Greek descent, from all over the country, and ended up receiving the Chris P. Tomaras Award, totaling in $1,000. I ended up playing two movement of Bach's Suite No. 4 in E-flat major, (the Allemande and Courante), in addition to Arthur Benjamin's Jamaican Rumba. My Mom ended up accompanying me on my journey, and we had a great time, checking out the top of the Hancock Tower, the 2nd tallest building in Chicago, next to the Sears Tower. We had a view overlooking Lake Michigan, and were able to see Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin in the distance, in addition to the great expanse of Chicago.
<img border="0" alt="Free Hit Counters" src="http://counter.rapidcounter.com/counter/1125471018/mgreen"; ALIGN="middle" HSPACE="4" VSPACE="2">
<font style="font-size:12"color="#666666">Free Hit Counters

If you haven't been here before (this is my first time, being an East Coast Yankee who has hugged the coastline for 21 years) it is an amazingly beautiful city, filled with lush foliage, and considering the scenery of Long Island, NY and Boston, one would think that you jumped two or three months ahead. Seriously, it looks like the middle of June right now.
On a more musical note, I was able to grab a lesson with Jodi Levitz on Wednesday afternoon. She helped to streamline some technical glitches in my bowarm, allowing me to use more muscle, particularly from the back. I'm probably going to meet with Ruby Fulton's composition professor today, and talk about a few ideas about influencing the Red States through music.
When I come back to Boston, I will try to get some pics up on this webpage.

-Greg
<img border="0" alt="Free Hit Counters" src="http://counter.rapidcounter.com/counter/1125471018/mgreen"; ALIGN="middle" HSPACE="4" VSPACE="2">
<font style="font-size:12"color="#666666">Free Hit Counters

I am currently a junior Viola Performance Major in the College of Fine Arts at Boston University. I have been wanting to create my own website for awhile, and this is my first shot at it. I plan to use it to post upcoming events, and write about experiences I have in the world of music. This can also be a place for friends and fellow musicians to post info about their own upcoming concerts.
<img border="0" alt="Free Hit Counters" src="http://counter.rapidcounter.com/counter/1125471018/mgreen"; ALIGN="middle" HSPACE="4" VSPACE="2">
<font style="font-size:12"color="#666666">Free Hit Counters
